Neurotherapy uses precise measurement and gentle modulation of brain activity to help the nervous system learn healthier, more flexible patterns. Sanjay's practice integrates two complementary approaches:
Training begins with a quantitative EEG (qEEG), a detailed map of your brain's electrical activity, compared against normative databases to identify patterns associated with your goals and difficulties. From this map, Sanjay designs an individualized brain entrainment protocol.
Where entrainment teaches the brain, gentle stimulation supports and accelerates that learning. Sanjay works with low-level, non-invasive methods: transcranial electrical microcurrent stimulation, low-intensity magnetic stimulation, and photobiomodulation (pulsed near-infrared light that supports cellular energy production in neurons), used to support attention, cognition, mood, meditation depth, and recovery.
What distinguishes this approach is the integration of these technologies with mindful awareness and contemplative training, opening pathways to cognitive longevity, emotional resilience, and expanded states of consciousness.
Sanjay Manchanda, PhD has practiced neurotherapy for more than twenty years. He trained directly with two of the field's founding pioneers, Les Fehmi, creator of the Open Focus attention training method, and Joel Lubar, who pioneered neurofeedback for attention and ADHD. He holds Board Certification in Neurofeedback (BCIA) and the QEEG Diplomate, the field's highest credential in quantitative EEG analysis.
For over fifteen years, Sanjay ran a private neurotherapy practice in Tucson, Arizona, working with clients across the lifespan on attention, cognition, mood, recovery, meditation, and peak performance. He has also served as Chief Clinical Officer at Alchemas Inc., directing clinical research in brain stimulation with light, current, and ultrasound for meditation and higher states of consciousness.
An early adopter throughout his career, Sanjay began working with transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) and photobiomodulation (near-infrared light) as soon as the first research papers appeared, and has been applying safe, non-invasive, low-level electrical and magnetic brain stimulation with clients for over fifteen years.
"By measuring the electrical activity of the brain, precision qEEG assessment provides a direct window into your nervous system, and a powerful catalyst for lasting change."
Sanjay works with clients remotely via Zoom, guiding the use of photobiomodulation headsets and neurostimulation tools at home.
1. Initial consultation
A thorough review of your history, goals, and current functioning.
2. Assessment
qEEG brain mapping and standardized measures where appropriate.
3. Individualized plan
A brain stimulation protocol matched to your brain and your goals, with recommended equipment.
4. Re-assessment
Objective measurement of change over time.
Not every difficulty calls for neurotherapy, and no single method is right for everyone. Drawing on decades of clinical experience across psychotherapy, biofeedback, and neurotechnology, Sanjay also offers a peak performance and brain recovery consultation to help you build a comprehensive recovery or optimization plan, evaluating the range of options relevant to your situation and providing referrals to appropriate treatments and qualified health practitioners.
Neurotherapy is a training and consulting service; it complements, and does not replace, medical or psychological care.
