Background
Sanjay Manchanda, PhD has been a psychotherapist and wisdom teacher for more than thirty years. As a young person he was keenly sensitive to life's suffering and drawn to the mysteries of life. He first looked to science for answers, and for practical reasons trained as an electrical engineer and computer scientist. Paradoxically, it was in the West, while a professor of computer science, that he turned in earnest to meditation and deep inquiry, even returning to India for a year-long spiritual journey. A profound spiritual awakening ultimately called him to leave academia and devote himself to the inner life.
In the years that followed, he trained deeply in the mystical traditions of Buddhism and Hinduism, alongside extensive study of Western depth psychology and body- and mind-based therapeutic approaches, including hands-on energy healing. He also trained directly with two of neurofeedback's founding pioneers, Les Fehmi, creator of the Open Focus attention training method, and Joel Lubar, who pioneered neurofeedback for attention and ADHD, and holds Board Certification in Neurofeedback (BCIA) and the QEEG Diplomate, with more than twenty years of neurotherapy practice.
From this dual immersion emerged the signature of his work: a fully integrated approach that meets people at the levels of body, mind, and spirit, drawing on the confluence of the streams of Eastern wisdom and Western science.
Brain Stimulation & Neurofeedback
Sanjay's engineering roots never left him. A passionate advocate for technology in service of inner growth, he has pioneered the use of neurofeedback, brain stimulation, and photobiomodulation in spiritual and therapeutic settings, employing EEG-based feedback, near-infrared light, and high-frequency pulsed stimulation to deepen meditation, sharpen clarity, and accelerate states of insight and flow.
He is the founder and CEO of Neuromatrix, maker of advanced infrared light headsets for brain health, recovery, meditation, and peak performance, and he teaches at the California Institute of Integral Studies in San Francisco, the California Institute for Human Science in San Diego, and the Fundamental Well-Being Foundation.
